![]() You probably wouldn't want to do this until level 11 of Kensai though, so this is a late game build for sure. Functionally I think a Kensai Titan Mauler does work because to get the 2h weapon (which I presume you're going for) is only a 2 level dip. Bladebound is realllly good, but it's still a fine trade for the flavor. If you want to do the Titan Mauler you'd need to drop the Bladebound. What do you think about this rules-wise? I think RAW, you're golden pulling this off, since every crit seperately provokes a new AOO and therefore you never make more than one AOOs against the creature for one given action.Ĭonceptually, a Bladebound Kensai Titan Mauler is really cool! Unfortunately, the Black Blade must be a 1h Slashing weapon. Now what happens if his AOO crits? Do you gain another AOO? If yes, and if both of you are extremely lucky and both have a dex bonus of +9, you could unleash a series of a total of 20 AOOs and completely OHKO the BBEG. Assuming you crit him once -> your ally gains an AOO. Now you and your ally, who happens to have the same two feats, flank the BBEG. So let's imagine the (not unrealistic) case of you being a dex based melee character with this feat and notably also the Combat Reflexes feat. (2) Concerning the Outflank feat: It says "whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally". Also it could make a mechanical difference, because it would allow your character to buy a weapon made from a special material worth about 1000 gp at 2nd level. Does this mean, that the magus actually gains a NEW weapon, that happens to be a black blade? Or does his existing weapon "awaken" and becomes more and more sentient? My fluff intuition says the latter, because it would allow for some awesome roleplay (the blade's consciousness slowly influencing the magus without him recognizing at first). (1) Concerning the Bladebound Magus: d20pfsrd states "At 3rd level, the bladebound magus’ gains a powerful sentient weapon called a black blade". Since both of these questions are only little time consuming, I decided to put them both into one thread:
